This image was shot in the Chain O’ Lakes region in northwest Illinois. This area is excellent for year-round bird watching, but all kinds of migratory birds stop here between March and June. I was particularly interested in shooting egrets, and I figured these birds would make great subject matter for a new telephoto lens I wanted to test out. As the sun began to set, the egrets all returned to the same tree to settle in, hundreds of them squawking and fighting for a piece of a branch to call home for the night. It was a fantastic sight. These two egrets isolated themselves away from the rest on a lone branch and began to settle in. With my long lens and a clear sky in the background, I was able to get this stunning image of the egrets. The soft lines, the muted colors, and the elegant feel of the birds are in complete contrast to the noisy and busy activity taking place all around them. If you want an image that conveys elegance and grace, consider adding ‘Wings of Love’ to your space.
