I am an artist born and raised in South Korea, living in Pasadena, California. I’m driven by a lifelong passion for the art world. With a major in Oriental Painting from Dankook University in Korea and a decade-long career as an IATSE Local 798 makeup artist in the motion picture industry, my artistic journey has been diverse and dynamic.
My artwork is a profound expression of my connection to God's love and forgiveness. My art delves into the complexities of cultural barriers, language limitations, isolation, and dissatisfaction. I have chosen to reject negativity, embracing love, forgiveness, and peace. As warriors in our own battles, we fight with faith, knowing that we have already overcome. "Do not be afraid, for I am with you." (Isaiah 43:5)
Despite life's challenges, my unwavering dedication to art has never wavered. Deep within my heart, I believe that art is a divine gift meant to be expressed and shared. A turning point came during the COVID-19 pandemic when financial issues brought new changes and drew me back to creating art. With only a case of oil pastels and my daughter's drawing books, I began exploring the art of face drawing, learning to appreciate the present instead of yearning for what I lacked.
Through vibrant colors, shapes, and lines, I intricately weave scripture verses into abstract faces. Through my art, I aim to inspire, uplift, and foster a sense of unity and understanding.
My work is currently on exhibition at Jinks Galleries in Pasadena. I hope to see you there!
Thank you for supporting local artists like myself.
