This photo is part of a series of photos that were taken on a windy afternoon in Joshua Tree National Park. The gusty winds whipped up the sand in the valley, creating a thick haze that added to the surreal and dreamlike atmosphere of the scene. The thick clouds also created mesmerizing volumetric lights that played across the landscape, making it look like something out of a fairy tale.

This photograph showcases the sun magically breaking through the thick, voluminous clouds that dominated the sky. To capture this dynamic scene, I had to work quickly, as the light conditions changed rapidly. Just when the day was coming to an end, and the valley was beginning to get dark, the sun miraculously appeared in that orange band in the clouds. I couldn't believe my eyes because I thought there was not a chance the sun would break through the thick clouds.

What a magical moment that I'll never forget!
