Piers are fascinating structures built on waterfronts, extending out over the water and supported by pilings, providing a space to enjoy leisure activities and work while being suspended above the ocean's surface. The allure of the ocean is matched by my fascination with piers. Wharves add a new dimension to the waterfront, and the Santa Monica Pier, with its lively colors and festive atmosphere, is a perfect example. Capturing this iconic Socal landmark was a creative challenge for me. I wanted to photograph one of the most photographed structures in all of Los Angeles in a unique and captivating way. As I explored its features, I was captivated by the vibrant lights illuminating the waves around the pilings and the fishing net hanging nearby. Using a longer shutter speed, I created movement in both the waves and the colors, resulting in an interpretative and distinctive image of the pier that I'm genuinely pleased with.
